Dr. Mammen has been practicing general dentistry for many years. He received his high school diploma from Phillips Academy in Andover, Ma in 1991. He is a 1995 graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, MO where he double majored in Anthropology and Biology. Dr. Mammen attended dental school at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. He graduated with a D.M.D. (Doctor of Dental Medicine) degree in 1999. Dr. Mammen then went on to serve our country as a Captain in the U.S. Army where he completed a general dentistry residency at Fort Carson, CO in 2000. Following residency, he served as the Officer in Charge at both Camp Edwards and Camp Greaves in Korea and as a Staff General Dentist at the United States Military Academy in West Point, NY from 2000-2002.
Following his military service, Dr. Mammen moved to Connecticut where he helped opened and develop the dental department at East Hartford Community HealthCare as the center’s first Dental Director. He held this position from 2002-2007. During this time, Dr. Mammen was also appointed Clinical Instructor at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine. In 2005, Dr. Mammen became a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry (F.A.G.D.), an honor only a small percentage of dentists have received.
In 2007, Dr. Mammen and his family decided to relocate to the Houston area to be closer to family and friends. After seeing all the area had to offer, he and his family chose to settle in Katy. Dr. Mammen’s wife, Anju, is a pediatrician in Katy. They have 2 wonderful children: a 6 year old son Kiran and a 2 year old daughter Maya and are expecting their 3rd child in December.
Dr. Mammen became acquainted with Dr. Morency through the Greater Houston Dental Society. After spending time together, they soon discovered that their philosophy of practice and treatment of patients are very similar. Dr. Mammen purchased The Smile Enhancement Center from Dr. Morency in 2008. Dr. Mammen is here to provide you with all of your dentistry needs while Dr. Morency is now focusing his expertise on full mouth reconstruction and TMJ (Please click on Dr. Morency’s picture to learn more about him).
Dr. Mammen is not only committed to providing all his patients with the very best that modern dentistry has to offer but is continually expanding his own knowledge through continuing education. He is an active member in the American Dental Association, the Texas Dental Association, the Greater Houston Dental Society, the Pierre Fauchard Academy (a dental honor society), and the Academy of General Dentistry.
Outside of his passion for dentistry, Dr. Mammen is an avid sports fan. He enjoys playing basketball in his free time.
